Edition #2: Puku Pizza, Fashion Show and a Note from the Editor!

Hello readers, Jainus Darkblade again, and I went to a different locale this time! I had the pleasure of sitting down with the proprietor of Puku Pizza Delivery Co., M’uru N’jaeda! She operates a gorgeous pizzeria right out of Topmast Apartments, so sit down, order a pie, and read about how the heavens chose one Miqo’te to dish out a deep dish like never before!

One night, a slightly younger M’uru N’jaeda was walking home through the Mist after she had completed a delivery. She was passing by the Topmast Apartment building when suddenly, an uncooked, doughy flatbread from on high smacked her square in the face! She told me that “As I later came to learn, it didn’t exactly descend from the heavens; but from out the window of Floor 77”. I, however, will ignore this fact simply because of the passion in her voice whilst speaking of the pizzeria and her business. She was clearly born for it!

That apartment and parlor would turn out to belong to none other than Mario Piazzola, Master Pizzaiolo. To show his sorrow for raining dough upon our subject’s parade, he showed her the art of crafting the perfect pizza. I shall not recant the complete story and rob you the opportunity of hearing it from her yourselves. Her every word bled with reminiscent happiness. If you can catch her as she is a very busy lady, in her own words she handles the “cooking, delivery, inventory management, waiting tables, accounting; everything, that is, except entertainment” She did reassure me; however, that she was not running the ship alone!

Their mascot is an adorable little kitty who is known as Puku! The kitten also appears as their logo but you don’t have to be a cat person to enjoy that gooey goodness that is perfectly baked cheese. I asked her what the Puku Pizza Delivery Co’s mission statement was and she gave me a most thorough response with the company motto itself, Word for word!

“Bringing high-quality pizza, from our shores to yours’! Puku Pizza was founded with the goal that everyone should enjoy good food no matter where they are, whether in the field with an adventuring party or from the comfort of their homes—that with just one call, they can have some Pukuroni deliciousness delivered right to them! When I was doing parcel delivery around Limsa, I realized the convenience of having someone send you mail right to you instead of going out and getting it yourself, and so applied that same concept to food!”

Not only did she have a passion for her work, but she was making my job easy. So what if you wanted to work with her crew? I’ve got good news! They are currently hiring waitstaff and chefs “especially if they know a thing or two about pizza, of course!” She added. “All of our delivery people have prior backgrounds with military, combat, or other specific skills to help them navigate the land. Our job is to ensure that come hell or Umbral Calamity, your pizza /will/ get to you at all costs!” Is that not a noble cause?

No longer shall adventurers be out and about on jobs or collecting bounties with a rumbling tummy! No longer must we be stuck in the middle of nowhere without a bite to eat. Simply grab up your link pearl and find her frequency and you can place an order for delivery nearly anywhere! For the fancy types you can yank out your tomestone and order from there as well. I was told the tomestone method was more reliable due to aetheric interference with linkpearls being a common problem, so if you haven’t gone to the Ironworks to get one of these fantastic tools I highly suggest you do… THEN ORDER PIZZA!

Puku Pizza Delivery Co. has been in operation “Officially” for two years but has been unofficially in business for four. “Originally, food already popular in Limsa, packaged in little plastic boxes: popotos and fish, fried salmon, shrimp, and some desserts like apple pies.” Ms. N’jaeda explained. It was when the dough from above brought the wet slap of epiphany and she changed her focus. They are open Friday and Saturday 9:45 PM – 12:45 AM (EST) Further localization available on their menu which I will include just under their adorable logo to browse at your leisure.

If you happen to go to their physical location in the Mist Ward 2 in the Topmast Apartment in Room 77, tell them Jainus sent you!

Ask Aunty Darkblade #1

I’ve gotten my first question via moogle mail! This edition we have a question from an anonymous newbie adventurer and they’ve chosen a rather standard question!

How can I cope with my crippling fear of failure?

This is a difficult question but more common than one might think! A fear of failing isn’t unnatural. In fact, it is a cornerstone on the path to doing well! In other words, you are supposed to be afraid of failing, that is a part of growing! So my first bit of advice for you is to embrace it. Break down the pros and cons of what failing would mean. Especially as an up and coming Adventurer.

Failing in a fight, for example, comes with the weight bearing feeling of defeat. It is important that you don’t lose sight of what is actually going on. Why were you defeated? What mistakes were made? Reflecting on it is a huge part of your training before you’re sent off to fight the proverbial Morbol!

Second, I would say in the event you are put into the position of failure, take a deep and calming breath. See your chance of failing as a challenge. Do your best to see it not as failing but as an opportunity to learn and better equip yourself for the future.

Lastly, if you do fail and fail hard, don’t beat yourself up! Again, it is important to reflect on the what ifs and the what happeneds of the world. What if I had done this instead? Would my chances have improved? Was there another way to approach this problem and can I try again?

We are not always granted a second chance and sometimes this fear can be linked to the fact that we only get one opportunity, and being afraid of failing at that opportunity will only serve to hold you back from experiencing it.

Take your fear of learning and find ways to turn it into an excitement for learning, I believe is my main point. If it is absolutely crippling and you cannot cope then I would recommend a therapist to aid in the endeavor! There is no failure in seeking help.

Winter is out, Summer is IN!

It was the 29th Sun of the Third Astral Moon. The longest day of the month and I found myself fairly bored. I had heard of an event being held at Mih Khetto’s Amphitheatre and decided I would have a look to see what I could. What I learned was that a lot of people outside of free companies have things in store for the world. I also learned of a larger production agency of sorts; but that is for a later issue. For now we will focus on the show and The Purple Rose.

The Purple Rose is the passion work of one N’Rayena Hunt. A mother, a weaver, and a passionate fashionista in her own right. As a girl, her mother taught her the way of the needle and she grew up enjoying the art of weaving and making clothes for her family. Eventually, this would land her with a fashion show presented by Voodoo Entertainment. Rather, a woman named Lux, who was excited at the prospect of a fashion show and helped support the endeavor!

Lux did the announcing for the show throughout the process. On top of eloquent imagery and performing in very well choreographed dances at the start and end of the show. I was unable to reach Lux for an interview but I suspect with my persistence I will have a spotlight on her and Voodoo for this article.

The Fashion Show itself was paced well enough to keep people interested. Peppered with dances and music to keep it engaging. Lux was very good with her words, which made being there worth it regardless, as well as presenting the models for the various outfits and colors.

They had prizes that they handed out randomly throughout segments of the show. I got a shirt I’d have my eye on for a little while! They hold this show once in the spring / summer cycle, and then again in the fall / winter cycle! Tune in here for news on when they decide to do their next one and if you do go to their next show, tell ‘em Jainus sent you!

Forgive me the small amount we have in our second release. When it comes to things going wrong, life finds a way. Fret not however! Our duo is not losing steam, merely finding the best and most effective manner by which to do the job we have chosen. Bear with us in that!

Got any hot tips on some great happenings around the world? Throw us some mail and let us know! If we haven’t found it first we’ll try to cover it at some point! We simply need a name, location, and information about whether or not it is a recurring event! Any of our articles done will come with free adverts if chosen, it can’t hurt!

The Gazette is hiring!

Do you have an unspoken passion for collecting and distributing information? Are my skills with grammar and editing pissing you off? Do you love taking pictures? Are you more suited to protecting others? We have positions for the lot of you! We are looking for more to join us in our work! Here is a run down of what to expect:

Journalists are the folks that will be going to locations to collect information about a venue and the people behind it. They are the writers that will help stitch this entire thing together! Through their eyes, the world over will see the things they otherwise didn’t know about!

Media Specialists do just that! They will often be paired with a journalist to take pictures of the location and relevant people, or whatever they feel would do well, while the journalist conducts their interview. This buddy system ensures that everyone can focus on their job!

Artists are folks who have the skill to bring things to life on paper! Typically they will provide custom images that may be needed or someone that may do comic strips to be put in the Gazette!

Security will be our armored titans against the various types of threats the world over. Monsters, bandits and mayhap a strong wind, they will likely be close behind the duo above ensuring nary a drop of blood is spilt!

Perhaps you have an interest in adding to the bulk of our stories but have no interest in joining our company? That is okay too. We currently have two freelancing slots open!

Freelancers are basically free agent journalists who use their time to submit stories to us for use in the Gazette. Our very own Raezien, our very first freelancer, has already done some work for us with the story on the Aetherolectric Guitar!

Culinarian Adventurer #2

It is I, A’joda Tia, back in action for the next segment of Culinarian Adventurer! At least that is what I would love to say, in all honesty this week has been full of lessons! So instead we will cover that.

We shall first discuss the importance of keeping a clean stovetop. Lots of people who cook stovetop end up dropping food bits into the tray beneath the fire. They mistakenly think that the fire will take care of the debris rather quickly! Let me tell you that the fire will take care of the debris, when it catches the entire stove on fire! All the grease and food bits catch and that’s it, game over!

You may not have known this, but a few kinds of stove tops can actually be LIFTED! That’s right, you can lift the stove to clean underneath; not just the catch plates but also underneath them! Speaking of grease catching fire…

DON’T THROW WATER ON IT! I know from a reliable source, throwing water on a grease fire will on cause the grease to spread with the fire! The problem will only get worse. So, instead you must turn off the source of heat then smother the fire. If it’s in a pan that’s as easy as covering the pot with a lid and suffocating it.

If it’s a small fire, you can throw a bunch of salt or baking soda on it to smother it as a last resort. It’s important to note that similar things like baking powder, flour and other things that resemble salt or baking soda, should be avoided as they could make the fire worse too!

If you can’t put the fire out, grab your entire free company and abandon ship! Close the door behind you to contain the fire and call for help! Your local fire marshals will better be able to handle the fire. Lives are far more important than property, remember that!
